How Menopause Affects Your Mental Health

Are you in your 40’s or early 50’s and feel like you’re going a bit mad sometimes?  You’re not alone.  It could be the onset of peri menopause.  The effect of menopause usually starts in the brain not in the reproductive organs and, as a result, massively impacts our mental health.    If you’ve been diagnosed with anxiety disorder it could actually be a symptom of peri menopause.  If you want to learn more and also find out how you can help, please watch my video it’s 29 mins.

The Placebo Effect: How to Positively Affect Your Menopause

"It’s all in your mind". That’s what was previously thought about the placebo effect, but according to much research, we know that’s not true.

There are real molecular changes that happen in the brain and body when someone is given a placebo.

What we’re really talking about here is the power of 'expectation', and the chemical changes that happen in the body as a result of a positive or negative expectation that we have about a drug or a complementary therapy.  It's actually flipping amazing.

The question is then, can we tap into expectation, belief and conditioning to help us have a better menopause experience?

I think we can.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do have some suggestions.

If you’re curious like me and believe that the power to positively affect our health is in our hands, you might like this video.

How Your Mind Can Affect Your Menopause

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I believe your mind has the power to affect your experience of your menopause (including your symptom severity).

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last few years (and I wouldn’t blame you if you had) you’ve probably heard about the power of the imagination.  When it comes to our immune system, our nervous system and our endocrine system (ok, ALL our systems actually) the imagination can have an impact(directly and indirectly).

Remember nothing happens in isolation in the body.

Don’t take my word for it, look at the science.

In a study done in 2004 by scientists at The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Lerner Research Institute in Cleveland they found that by simply imagining repeating an exercise over and over again, you can an increase in muscle strength by 35% Ref: Pg: 77 ‘How Your Mind Heals Your Body’ by David R Hamilton.

How to Get More Pleasure At Menopause

Menopause Mindset Monday is here and this week it's all about the power of pleasure! I've just come back from an epic TANTRA weekend and my mind is truly blown! I can't wait to share what I've learnt with you.

This is for you if:

You feel that pleasure and the menopause don't mix.

You like the idea of pleasure but you keep putting it off.

You keep looking outside of yourself for pleasure (food, sex, work, socials, projects) but at the end of the day you still feel empty. *********************************************

Navigating The Emotional Pain of Not Having Children at Peri Menopause

The grief, the loss, the conflict I felt a few years after I terminated a pregnancy and realised I probably wasn't going to get pregnant again was intense.  Being a woman is flipping hard sometimes.   But over the years, I've done a lot of internal clearing.  At the beginning of the year I made a very powerful decision.

Many women choose to be childfree through their lives but some women don't and being child-less feels empty, painful and full of sorrow.

So how to we navigate these painful emotions if being a mother is something we've always wanted?

In this video we're going to look at the two mindset shift options you have if you are peri menopausal, still having periods and are struggling with the idea of not having a child.

8 Mistakes You're Making When It Comes To Your Menopause

None of us like to get called out, but it's usually only when the truth hurts that we become motivated to do something about it. Very few of us are motivated by the logical 'whys', we are much more motivated by the 'feels'. So hopefully this video will inspire you.

Here's a clue. One of the biggest mistakes I made when it came to my health was thinking that all my symptoms were separate. I wanted to find a quick fix solution to the brain fog, the PMS, the night sweats, the stomach acid, the IBS, the insomnia, the palpitations.

There was one big fix that I found (that I'm going to tell you about in this video) but I realised that in itself, was only half the story.

I'm on a lot of menopause facebook groups and I see these kind of questions all the time.... Is there anything I can take for my bloating? What's good for insomnia? What can I take for this PMS?

Many women understandably want their symptoms gone! And quick fixes are great for the short term, but often they are not...
