Doing what scares you first is a habit of highly successful people. They do this naturally because they don’t want the thought of something hanging over their head all day draining their energy and sending them out of the Vortex, so they do what scares them first.
It could be having some kind of crucial conversation or negotiation, it could be doing a facebook live, it could be calling someone and asking for something, it could be doing a HITT class, it could be doing your taxes, practicing your instrument or your new language. Get the idea?
The trouble is, if you don’t do the thing that scares you first, the day will run away with you and you’ll find all kinds of excuses NOT to do the thing that’s worrying you. You’ll put it off because your mind always tries to move you away from pain.
So it’s your job to train your mind to do the un-natural long enough and enough times that it starts to become natural.
Ask yourself do you want to belong to the group of people who procrastinates and puts off, always delaying, never getting anywhere, remaining stuck and in conflict with themselves or do you want to belong to that elite group of people who stretches that fear muscles first thing in the morning and get’s everything they want because they take risks? Marisa Peer says, if you want to belong that elite group the membership is doing what scares you or what you hate, first.
We’ve got huge amount of Cognitive Fuel at the start of the day so use it wisely, invest it.
I remember getting my head around this concept when I used to do sales calls for a music education company in London. I would dread doing them even though they were always productive… it’s that fear of rejection. But I understood that by doing the phone calls FIRST I could then relax and get on with the other more laid back tasks through the rest of the day when my cognitive fuel was running low.
So there you have, that’s my nugget of wisdom for the day.
Do What Scares You or what you hate FIRST!
Have a great day.
